Slovenia has many important cities. Its capital, Ljubljana, has over 270,000 inhabitants of the 2 million in the country. Cities of Maribor, or touristy Koper, Izola, and Piran are also important. In one of the most touristy regions of the country, Slovenian Istria is where you'll dinf the Adriatic Coast. Ljubljana is the capital and the most important city in the country. With its monuments, cultural richness, castle, churches, cathedrals, make it an interesting place to visit.
Other places of interest are Celje or Ptuj. Neither city is very populated, but they have such and incredible historic interest. Ljubljana is one of the oldest and historic cities in the country. The second most populated city is Maribor, a place with over 130,000 inhabitants, which provides an important industrial area, the motor of the region's economy.
Other cities like Velenje has a fantastic accommodation offer, a city where its castle, its ski stations in winter, and its artificial lake, make it a place to practice many activities. The city of Kranj and its rich history and monuments is another place to see.
On the coast, you'll find most of the tourism in the county in places like Ikola, Koper, or Piran, on the coast of the Adriatic Sea, a destination for many Slavs, Croatians, Italians, and more.
Slovenia has other touristic places such as Bien, which is not a big city, but there are plenty of sports to practice in winter here such as ski and snowboarding. Or during the summer you can play golf, something very popular here. |
